  Good ol' DOS.

I am constructing a basic user commands list, which you may find here.

Software

I have linked numerous DOS resources below. To the absolute best of my knowledge, all of the sites listed below contain only legal downloads (no pirated software). If you know otherwise, please contact me.

DOS Operating Systems

Personally, I would recommend going with either MS-DOS or Free DOS, but there are numerous other versions of DOS running around out there. I have listed the ones which I have come across below.

  • DCP-DOS
  • DOS-C
  • DOS Plus
  • Dr. DOS
  • Free DOS
  • MOE-DOS
  • NeoDOS Still in the works
  • PC DOS Made by IBM & is not free
  • Real DOS

    DOS Games

  • DOS Games Archive
  • dosgames.com

    DOS Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs)

If you insist on using pretty pictures to navigate your way through DOS, then here are some options. I haven't tried any of them yet.

  • Desktop 2
  • SEAL System

    DOS Web Browsers

See the world, or at least, the World Wide Web! :-)

  • Arachne

    For Coding in DOS

Need to code? Try out one of the programs below!

  • DJGPP Mainly for C/C++, but will also support Ada, Chill, Fortran, Java, and Pascal if you combine DJGPP with the IDE RHIDE. RHIDE is also a nice GUI.
  • Free Pascal
